Dear Members, Players, Supporters, and Friends of Laburnum Cricket Club,
As the 1st XI Captain, it is my honour and privilege to welcome you all to the 2024/25 cricket season. The dawn of a new season always brings a sense of excitement and possibility, and this year is no exception. I am thrilled to share the fantastic journey that lies ahead for our club, starting with our upcoming pre-season at Century Cricket Centre. The pre-season schedule has been put together and is attached to this email. Our first session will be held on Thursday, August 8th from 6:30 - 8 pm.
First and foremost, I extend a warm welcome to all players, both returning and new. Our club's strength lies in our unity, passion, and dedication to the sport and our club as well as the behavioural framework we have worked hard to implement. As we gear up for the new season, I am confident that these qualities will shine through in every training session and match. The preseason at Century Cricket will be a crucial time for us to hone our skills, build our fitness, and strengthen the bonds that make us a formidable club on and off the field.
One of the most exciting aspects of the upcoming season is the influx of talented juniors breaking into our senior teams. It is incredibly inspiring to see the young players who have worked hard in our junior programs now stepping up to compete at a higher level. These juniors bring fresh energy and enthusiasm, and I am certain they will make significant contributions to our senior teams.
Equally exciting is the progress of those juniors who played in our senior teams last season. Watching them take another step forward in their development, both as cricketers and leaders, is a testament to the nurturing environment we strive to create at Laburnum Cricket Club. Their growth not only strengthens our teams but also sets a powerful example for the next generation of players coming through our ranks.
This season, we have set our sights high with ambitions to push for more finals berths across all five of our senior teams. The hunger for success and the desire to challenge ourselves is palpable. Our 1st XI, in particular, has an exciting journey ahead as we move up a grade into the 3rd division (Dorothy Mac). This promotion is a recognition of our hard work and skill, and it presents us with new challenges and opportunities to prove ourselves against tougher competition.
Beyond the on-field action, our social calendar is set to be a vibrant and integral part of our club's life. The events and gatherings we have planned will not only provide fun and relaxation but will also strengthen the bonds within our community. It is through these social interactions that lifelong friendships are forged, and our sense of belonging to the Laburnum family grows stronger.
Our club's community is at the heart of everything we do, and it is wonderful to see it flourishing. The support from our members, sponsors, families, and friends is invaluable. Your presence at matches, events, and functions creates an atmosphere that motivates and inspires us to give our best. Together, we are building something special—a community that stands by each other through every victory and challenge. To continue to support a culture that is safe for all, especially our juniors, the committee has recommended that as part of the registration process this year, we would like all senior players to have a Volunteer WWCC which they can upload as part of completing their player registration. This is mandatory for senior captains, vice captains, committee/sub-committee members & game day drivers. As we embark on this new season, let us remember that success is not solely measured by trophies and accolades. It is also about the personal growth, camaraderie, and memories we create along the way. Each training session, each match, and each social event is an
opportunity to learn, improve, and enjoy the sport we love.
I would like to thank every one of you for your continued dedication and support. Let us embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead with enthusiasm and determination. I am confident that this season will be one of growth, achievement, and lasting memories for Laburnum Cricket Club.
